Today’s xkcd puzzles me.
It’s a cat in a box, but it’s not a Schrödinger joke? Dood! UR IN MY HEAD, MESSIN WIT MAH MEEMZ. And, judging by the comments, I’m not the only one to be suffering in perplexity this morning.
Let’s just say that if I were expecting an office chair and opened the box to discover a live Schrödinger bobcat, my hopes would collapse, and my ensuing comments would be rather decoherent.
I got a small chuckle out of it by imagining someone reading the victim’s negative review.
But this particular strip strikes me as pretty off-character for xkcd.
Hmmm. You raise a good point. Is it like the Hat Guy to be cruel. . . without good reason?
Hopefully you weren’t too entangled with your expectations of a cool office chair.
Apparently you weren’t the only one who thought it should involve a Schrödinger joke.
But if the last century of Quantum Whatsits has taught us anything, isn’t it that we shouldn’t trust our expectations?
Rebuttal. (to those who think this is out of character for hat guy)
I think it’s pretty funny, honestly. XKCD is mainly just consistantly odd, which I like.
