News from the home town, actually:
“I know God is in control,” she said. “And that in everything we’re to give thanks to Him. I don’t know why our house is sinking but there’s a reason so we’re trying to be thankful.”
Personally, I think God is just a little peeved that somebody named a suburban subdivision “Cambridge at Heritage Plantation.”
Think, people, think!
Hey, my news item email engendered a blog entry. I still say this sounds like something straight out of “Carrie” (and I can’t help it you haven’t seen the movie). I also see my very eloquent assessment of the Stata center was quoted (I’m sure I’m the first to say it). Thank you for not making mention of the fact that I always fall asleep during “Connections” (there’s something about that man’s voice). So, are you coming “home” for Christmas . . . we can take a field trip to Cambridge at Heritage Plantation to see the house of doom.
Yeow, your mom sees news items like that and thinks of you? And she reads your blog? If you’re not going to see her over the break I AM!
Perhaps I’m just an evil atheist, but I keep imagining a gas main exploding under her house right as she finishes her quote.
*BOOM* “Well…I guess we should be thankful for that, too.”
Good call on the subdivision name, too.
Michael: What do you think of when you hear the word Sudden Valley?
George Michael: Salad dressing, I think. But for some reason, I don’t want to eat it.
Well, obviously her house is sinking because God is pissed that America tolerates homosexuals.
Duh.
Isaac Asimov once observed that a Christian Scientist church across the street from him installed air conditioning. This is the sect that believes they can pray away disease, but a whole church full of them can’t pray away discomfort?
And am I the only one who is offended when some idiot says “I thank God for saving my baby” after some disaster, when God apparently didn’t see fit to save a bunch of other people’s babies?
