Between this and the release of Blade Runner: The Final Cut… Yes. It does feel like 1982.
As my friends and I were walking out of the Coolidge Corner theater, I realized I had a pair of mirrorshades in the pocket of my trenchcoat. I discovered that if you wear mirrorshades at night, all you can see are the city lights, and if you pretend that the street signs you can’t read are written in kanji, you’re all set, and a new life awaits you in the off-world colonies.
Now, where is my Atari 400? I’m feeling the need for some line-number BASIC.

This book appears to be dangerously close to having been written by a character in a Wes Anderson film. Sadly, while it indeed provokes laughs, they aren’t generally of the sort found in Rushmore or The Royal Tenenbaums.
